Job summary

A leading company in the defense sector is seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer in Manchester. The successful candidate will optimize logistics processes and lead initiatives to enhance productivity within the manufacturing facility. This full-time role offers an initial 12-month contract as well as opportunities to implement significant improvements in operations.

Qualifications

  • Relevant NVQ or equivalent qualification in Engineering required.
  • Experience in manufacturing and warehousing would be preferable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead waste and defect reduction activities to enhance product delivery.
  • Set up and govern Continuous Improvement reviews ensuring sustainability.
  • Facilitate and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Skills

Manufacturing and warehousing experience
Knowledge of supply chain goods receiving practices
Understanding of MRP and Just-in-Time principles
Experience in fast-paced production environments
Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills
Ability to build productive cross-functional relationships
Experience with Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
Familiarity with CI and quality tools
Practical problem-solving leadership
Data analysis and interpretation skills
Project management from start to finish
Knowledge of Lean tools, techniques, and Minitab software
Understanding of manufacturing, logistics, and engineering processes

Education

NVQ Level 3/TR23/TR21 in Engineering or Craft Apprenticeship

Continuous Improvement Engineer

Carbon60 is seeking an experienced Continuous Improvement Engineer (Manufacturing) to join their industry-leading defence client in Bolton.

About the Role

The successful candidate will support the company's Assembly Operations by developing, optimizing, and improving internal Stores and Logistics processes to enhance product delivery to UK and international customers. They will lead waste and defect reduction activities to increase productivity and reduce costs.

Details

  • Full-time onsite at the Bolton Manufacturing Facility
  • Initial 12-month contract

Responsibilities

  • Set up, support, and govern CI reviews, ensuring they are effective and sustainable.
  • Facilitate and run CI plans to implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support root cause analysis for externally supplied detail products.
  • Reduce defective issues in the stores area, including rework and non-conformances, using 8D/A3 methodologies.
  • Implement process controls and capability improvements based on critical stores and logistics processes.
  • Facilitate practical problem solving within manufacturing and logistics facilities.
  • Provide technical expertise on Lean tools and change management.
  • Manage improvements within the business.

Qualifications

Pay range
