Overview

Continental Europe FP&A Lead for Everest Advisors (UK), Ltd. Finance role supporting the International Insurance business.

Role

The Finance function is expanding to support significant growth of the International Insurance business. You will report to the Europe Head of FP&A and partner with the Country Heads in France, the Netherlands, and Germany. You will help deliver the full underwriting P&L for these businesses and their products, support the annual planning and forecasting cycle, manage the close process, and implement scalable, data‑driven analysis for business growth. Your focus will be on establishing robust reporting and analytics across these countries, driving efficiency and automation, and aligning with European reporting for consistency.

You will bring a systems-oriented mindset and a passion for refining processes and leveraging data. The initial focus will be on developing management information to enhance forecasting, planning, and variance analysis.

The role can be based in Madrid, London or Germany (Dusseldorf/Rotterdam) with a hybrid schedule allowing remote work two days a week.

Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of the plan, forecast, and close processes for the full underwriting P&L.
  • Develop management reporting and analysis for regional and London businesses.
  • Partner with cost centre owners to proactively manage operating expenses.
  • Identify variances against plan and forecast, ensuring they are investigated, understood, and resolved where necessary.
  • Generate variance analysis reports and support the development of robust financial performance modelling, including the enhancement of Anaplan.
  • Set and monitor KPIs and business objectives, and help deploy strategies to improve underwriting results.
  • Develop MI and commentary by country, product, and function.
  • Support the business in understanding the financial implications of decisions and drive strategic and tactical thinking.
  • Build partnerships with stakeholders across the organisation, including the Head of UK & Ireland Retail, regional executive team, regional underwriting teams, and the international finance team.
  • Contribute to ad hoc financial projects as part of the overall finance function.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Accountancy, or related analytical discipline.
  • A professional accounting qualification is required.
  • Experience in financial planning and analysis within an insurance organisation.
  • Familiarity with the company market and a solid understanding of domestic retail insurance.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to multitask and operate efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent PC skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and technical skills.
  • Effective stakeholder management and business partnering skills to execute plans and implement strategies.
  • Effective negotiation skills with the ability to find win-win solutions.
  • Self-starter, capable of working independently and in a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with excellent oral and written communication.
  • Ability to understand and ensure compliance with internal and external management and regulatory controls.
  • Good understanding of the insurance industry and product portfolios to positively impact underwriting.
  • Language skills in French, German, or Dutch are a plus.
