Title: Senior Associate - Contentious Trusts & Probate 5/6+PQE

Location: Blandford & Dorchester

Role Type: Full-Time

Are you an experienced solicitor with a passion for contentious trusts and probate? Our client, a prestigious law firm based in Dorset, is seeking a Senior Associate to join their dynamic Contentious Trusts and Probate team. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with the Head of Contentious Trusts and Probate in managing and developing a high-performing team, ensuring the delivery of exceptional legal services.

Key Responsibilities:

Managing Matters:

  • Deliver high-quality legal service and client care, ensuring adherence to internal policies and procedures.
  • Lead by example, promoting the effective use of the firm's IT systems.
  • Address client concerns and complaints promptly and professionally.

Managing People:

  • Foster a fair, inclusive, and positive working environment.
  • Embrace change and contribute to process improvements.
  • Act as a mentor to trainees and junior colleagues, assisting in their development and recruitment.
  • Take charge of team performance management and training initiatives.

Technical Expertise:

  • Maintain advanced knowledge of relevant laws, policies, and practises, applying this expertise to meet client needs.
  • Identify and manage external experts and consultants as required.
  • Uphold professional conduct in accounting and financial matters per the Solicitors Accounts Rules.
  • Clearly define the scope of services and establish transparent charging bases.
  • Keep clients informed about progress and costs, ensuring timely communication.
  • Monitor and manage work-in-progress (WIP) efficiently, surpassing billing and hours targets.
  • Contribute to the budget-setting process effectively.

Business Development:

  • Promote the firm’s services and market the litigation department actively.
  • organise and deliver client training events and seminars, generating new business leads.
  • Write articles for publication and seek opportunities to enhance your and the team's profile.
  • Represent the firm at external events, building valuable networks and supporting junior colleagues.

Personal Attributes:

  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all client information.
  • Exhibit a positive, helpful demeanour towards colleagues, clients, and professional contacts.
  • Collaborate across departments to support the firm’s overall objectives.
  • familiarise yourself with and adhere to the firm’s values and policies.

Other Duties:

  • Undertake additional reasonable tasks as required, contributing to the overall success of the team and firm.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven experience in contentious trusts and probate law.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload with a focus on client satisfaction and profitability.
