Role Overview:
Themis Recruit are seeking a talented and driven Contentious Construction Solicitor (2-4 PQE) to join our clients leading Construction Disputes team. The ideal candidate will come from a Magic Circle, Silver Circle, or US firm background, bringing with them a strong track record in handling complex, high-stakes construction disputes. You will have the opportunity to work on large-scale, multi-jurisdictional projects, advising clients on all aspects of contentious construction matters, including claims related to delay, defects, and breach of contract.
Actively manage and advise clients on contentious construction matters, including disputes related to construction contracts, defects, and delay claims.
Represent clients in formal dispute resolution proceedings such as arbitration, litigation, and adjudication.
Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, settlement agreements, and correspondence with clients, opposing parties, and tribunals.
Provide strategic advice on risk mitigation and dispute avoidance in the context of complex construction projects.
Collaborate with senior colleagues and clients to develop case strategies and ensure timely and efficient resolution of disputes.
Work closely with clients, both UK-based and international, in sectors such as construction, engineering, infrastructure, energy, and real estate.
Assist with business development initiatives and build relationships with existing and potential clients.
Contribute to the firm’s knowledge base by staying current on developments in construction law and dispute resolution.
Key Requirements:
Qualified solicitor with 2-4 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in contentious construction law.
Experience gained at a leading law firm, ideally within a Magic Circle, Silver Circle, or US firm.
Solid understanding of construction disputes, including knowledge of key construction industry issues and legal frameworks.
Experience in handling arbitration, litigation, and adjudication proceedings, with a focus on complex construction claims.
Strong drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple, often complex, matters simultaneously.
Strong commercial awareness and a client-focused approach.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with clients, colleagues, and external parties effectively.
A proactive and self-motivated individual who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
