Job Description:

Our client is looking to appoint a solicitor to join their construction department to focus on contentious construction work. The team has a busy and broad practice with a particular focus on the energy sector, and regularly advises on the following areas: infrastructure, civil engineering, utilities, wastewater, transport, oil and gas, renewables (hydro schemes, tidal, onshore and offshore wind), flood prevention schemes, commercial developments, domestic, PFI/PPP, and professional negligence.

As part of the team, you will have the opportunity to:

•Advise clients on their contractual provisions and obligations, in the context of issues and disputes;

•Provide strategic pre-dispute advice to large commercial clients, including assessing the strength of position, options to avoid formal dispute processes, and the preparation for such a process;

•Take an active role in large-scale Scottish and English court actions in the TCC, Court of Session, and Sheriff Courts, and also experience a wide variety of alternative dispute resolution options including arbitration, adjudication, and mediation; and

•Documenting settlements and agreements, and advising clients on the concluded position, including how to continue projects and commercial relationships.

Applicants will ideally be around 3- 6 years post qualified and have relevant experience. The firm operates a flexible working policy, offers an excellent package and salary will be dependant on experience.
