We aim to foster a community where Nigerian cinema enthusiasts and filmmakers can engage in meaningful discussions about the evolving trends, artistry, and cultural significance of the Nollywood industry.

Job Summary

We're looking for a passionate and culturally fluent Content Writer to join our creative team. The ideal candidate should love writing about film, storytelling, pop culture, and the social conversations around them. You’ll contribute features, reviews, listicles, and commentary that spark discussion, inform audiences, and celebrate African cinema.

Key Responsibilities

• Write engaging film reviews, think pieces, interviews, and entertainment features.
• Create snappy headlines, intros, and captions tailored to our social audience.
• Pitch article ideas relevant to Nollywood, African cinema, and screen culture.
• Collaborate with editors and designers to develop multimedia content packages.
• Ensure all content aligns with NollyCritic’s voice, tone, and editorial standards.
• Conduct research, fact-checking, and occasional interviews as needed.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a writer, journalist, blogger, or content creator.
• Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
• A keen interest in Nollywood and African storytelling, both classic and contemporary.
• Ability to meet deadlines and respond to editorial feedback.
• Familiarity with online publishing tools (Google Docs, WordPress, etc).
• Bonus: SEO knowledge, newsletter writing, or scriptwriting experience.

Nice to Have

• Prior work with a media platform or publications.
• Experience writing for Gen Z/Millennial audiences.
• Comfort with writing in different tones (formal, snarky, poetic, etc.)
