Job description

Job Title: Content Editor (multi-platform)

Salary: c.£33,500 (Dependent on skills and experience)

Location: Stoneleigh, Warwickshire with agile working

Working Hours: 35 hours per week

Contract Type: Permanent

The National Farmers Union (NFU) is the biggest farming organisation in the UK. We're proud to make a difference for all our members by shaping attitudes towards British farming and leading the charge on a range of major issues, from trade and food standards to climate change and rural crime.

Are you an enthusiastic and confident writer who wants to be part of a talented national communications team which takes pride in having impact in everything it does?

As a content editor, you will be responsible for sourcing, researching and creating various types of content for our online and print publications. Working within the agriculture publishing team, you will work with senior members of the team to plan, commission, write and sub-edit articles for our monthly flagship title, British Farmer & Grower magazine, as well as our highly respected website. You will be able to sub-edit copy, using an authentic voice that will resonate with our membership which includes a growing young farmer cohort receiving our Student Farmer magazine. You will be working across the business and will be comfortable helping colleagues simplify complex material, so it is easy to understand by our diverse member audience.

What You'll Bring

We are looking for a keen content creator who can produce must-read news and features about food and farming for our digital and print publications. You will have a good understanding of content design, digital user experiences, search engine optimisation and web standards. You'll be a self-starter who can take technical information and make it relevant for our members in digital and print publications. A background in agriculture would be useful but it is not necessary as long as you are interested in the subject and are willing to learn. We work within a fast-paced environment, so you'll need to be comfortable multi-tasking, working to tight deadlines and changing priorities, while producing accurate and dynamic copy. If you've got experience working with a CMS and software such as Adobe InDesign that would be an advantage. In return, we offer competitive pay and great benefits, and you'll find us a friendly team with a supportive team spirit.

The role is based within our award-winning Communications Directorate which works across the national and regional media, as well as in Westminster, and you will be part of a team working to create impact on a variety of channels including social media, with campaigns aimed at decision-makers, as well as connecting with NFU members.
