Job description

The Independent is seeking a strong writer to work with us in our mission to be the consumer champion, empowering shoppers to save money on their purchases through quality offers and deals. This is something we have been offering our readers for nearly 40 years and believe it is increasingly needed as the UK continues to battle the cost of living crisis.

In this role you will be responsible for working collaboratively with Independent’s ecommerce team on sourcing exclusive discount codes, hand selecting the best offers and deals, writing and editing quality money-saving content, optimising content conversion and maximising the value to our readers.

To be successful in this position you must demonstrate excellent communication, have strong collaboration skills and be highly organised as you will work with a high volume of content across a variety of verticals over busy peak periods. Candidates with previous experience writing deals content over the Black Friday period would have an advantage.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

• Work with our team to source exclusive offers and curate compelling deals for our readers.
• Write and publish quality deals content, focusing on maximising the take up of these offers and providing the optimal reader experience.
• Optimise existing deals content on the site to show our readers the most up to date information and latest offers available.
• Work collaboratively with our commercial and editorial teams.

Essential skills and experience

• At least 2 years experience in publishing.
• Experience in editing and writing, with a focus on quality.
• Excellent ability to optimise content for online engagement.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Excellent time management, prioritisation and project management skills.
• We are open to candidates based in the UK.
