Job Description:

This is a 12-months fixed-term contract

Amazon in Belgium is seeking a self-motivated and creative individual to support consumer communications. This role reports to the Head of Communications for Belgium and leads proactive campaigns across Amazon.com.be product categories, including deal events like Prime Day and Black Friday, as well as the holiday season. The candidate will support future product and feature launches. The ideal candidate will have expertise in media relations, social media, influencer relations, leadership, and an entrepreneurial, goal-oriented approach. Experience in corporate reputation, crisis, and issues management is essential for effective collaboration with team members handling these topics. They should be strategic thinkers who thrive in a fast-paced, start-up culture.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Oversee and manage all strategic PR plans for core retail areas, including consumer campaigns, news generation, and product placement in categories such as Brands of Belgium.
  2. Manage key retail events by building cross-category campaigns.
  3. Support strategic launches of new shopping innovations.
  4. Manage complex, fast-moving, and unexpected communication challenges.
  5. Act as a business partner to Amazon retail category leadership teams.
  6. Write strategic plans, messaging, and press releases; pitch and secure top media outlets.
  7. Build relationships with key media contacts.
  8. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure successful program launches.
  9. Provide strategic communication counsel to internal executives.
  10. Represent Amazon as a spokesperson.
  11. Manage reactive media inquiries.
  12. Work closely with International Stores & Corporate Communications teams.
About the team:

The Belgium Store and Corporate Communications team includes a Head of Comms and a Social Media/Influencer Manager, collaborating with external agency partners. The team supports the Belgian store through proactive campaigns, reactive media inquiries, and strategic partnerships, aiming to raise brand awareness and build Amazon's reputation as a force for good in Belgium.

Basic qualifications:
  • Experience in public relations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Expertise in consumer and retail PR initiatives
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Fluency in Flemish
Preferred qualifications:
  • Consumer PR expertise with a strong contact book in Belgian lifestyle and media outlets
