Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of bioinformatics solutions to support research projects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of bioinformatics tools.
• Analyze complex biological data to derive meaningful insights and drive project outcomes.
• Provide expert advice on bioinformatics methodologies and best practices.
• Design and optimize algorithms for processing large-scale biological datasets.
• Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of bioinformatics software and databases.
• Ensure data quality and integrity through rigorous testing and validation processes.
• Develop and deliver training sessions to enhance team members bioinformatics skills.
• Contribute to the preparation of scientific publications and presentations.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in bioinformatics and related fields.
• Foster a collaborative environment to encourage innovation and knowledge sharing.
• Support the development of project proposals and grant applications.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance bioinformatics capabilities.

Experience Required:

• Possess a strong foundation in bioinformatics and computational biology.
• Demonstrate proficiency in programming languages such as Python R or Java.
• Have experience with bioinformatics tools and databases like BLAST GenBank or Ensembl.
• Show expertise in data analysis and visualization techniques.
• Exhibit excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Display strong communication and collaboration abilities.
• Hold a degree in bioinformatics computational biology or a related field.

Contribution to Development of Practice:

• A line manager, coach and mentor to members of the team
• Lead practice activities including Capability Development, Knowledge Management, Proposition or Solution Development
• Develop focused Thought Leadership assets including industry 'points of view' or 'white papers', podcasts, blogs, video interviews etc
