Job summary

Cisco is seeking a Consulting Engineer to join the Customer Experience team in the UK. You will design, implement and optimize advanced network solutions for large, security-conscious customers, using SDA/SD-WAN, Catalyst platforms, and automation tools.

The role requires 5+ years in customer-facing technical consulting or delivery, strong knowledge of L2/L3 networking, and relevant certifications (CCNP or DevNet). A UK Security Clearance may be required in the future.

• Contribute to the design and implementation of cutting-edge Cisco technologies for large and complex customer network environments.
• Leverage innovative technology to solve real-world business problems and deliver scalable, robust services.
• Integrate emerging AI and automation methods into delivery practices to automate manual deployment processes, and support infrastructure-as-code platforms
• Analyze and monitor network performance providing impactful options for optimization, efficiency and capability improvements.
• Support the team for complex problem resolution, demonstrating deep technical expertise to resolve sophisticated issues across a broad range of technologies.
• Develop and contribute digital intellectual capital, repeatable delivery frameworks, and knowledge-sharing practices..
• Provide critical feedback to Engineering and Product organizations to influence future product roadmaps.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent, with 5+ years of relevant experience in customer-facing technical consulting, pre-sales, and/or service delivery roles.
• Deep knowledge of L2/L3 networking protocols and technologies, with strong hands-on Catalyst router and switch platform experience.
• Proven experience in design and deployment of networking solutions including SDA and SD-WAN.
• Experience integrating network services appliances (such as firewalls, IPS, load balancers, WAN optimizers)
• Professional level (e.g. CCNP, Cisco DevNet) or equivalent vendor certification expected.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong communication and planning skills, while being self-motivated with a focus on execution.
• Knowledge of software programmability, automation (Python, Ansible, Terraform and so on), orchestration, and/or virtualization technologies.
• Experience of working in the Public Sector - Armed Forces veterans are welcome!
