Job summary

Fichtner Consulting Engineers Ltd is seeking a civil/structural engineer for our Stockport office operating with a hybrid model. You will join a team delivering energy infrastructure projects, producing high-quality reports and feasibility studies, and liaising with clients across the UK.

Qualified candidates will have a degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, pursuit of ICE/IStructE chartered status, and a willingness to travel to sites.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Pursuing ICE or IStructE chartered membership.
• Experience in civils projects, ideally in consultancy with renewables or transmission.
• Experience inspecting materials and methods (concrete, drainage, steel).
• Understanding of foundation piling, UK/EU codes, geotechnical studies.
• Ability to produce and explain high-quality reports and feasibility studies.
• Able to interpret drawings and specifications.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of CDM Regulations and risk assessments.
• Full driving licence and vehicle for travel.

As the business grows from strength to strength, we are now looking to further extend our team by recruiting a civil/structural engineer to work out of our Stockport office with a hybrid model.

We are looking for:

• a good degree in either Civil or Structural Engineering;
• have achieved, or be actively working towards, ICE or IStructE professional chartered membership;
• recent technical experience gained with civils projects; ideally from a consultancy, with renewable energy or electrical transmission project knowledge.;
• experience of conducting quality inspections of materials and methods such as pre- formed and cast concrete structures, drainage, and steelwork;
• a good understanding of foundation piling, UK and European building codes and geotechnical studies
• the ability to produce and explain high quality technical reports and feasibility studies for clients;
• comfortable in interpreting engineering drawings, design specifications and functional descriptions;
• fully conversant with Microsoft Office;
• knowledge of CDM Regulations and risk assessments, able to identify quality issues and design risks;
• able to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary project team; and
• a full driving licence and vehicle for travel to sites/meetings.
