Job description

Consultants in Critical Care Transfer (ARCC KSS)

The Transfer Consultant provides support, care and necessary clinical interventions to patients in the hospital and transfer environment, using appropriate skills and equipment, ensuring they are transferred efficiently and safely to a facility which is best suited to provide treatment for their on-going clinical needs. In addition, the Transfer Consultant will be required to take referrals from healthcare providers across KSS and be able to provide advice and guidance to referring teams, allocate an urgency and priority to each transfer and communicate effectively to mobilise teams and provide an ETA to the referrer and updates as required should clinical or environmental conditions change. The successful candidate will work at one of the two bases in KSS (Crawley and Maidstone). Occasionally in exceptional circumstances and with appropriate notice, doctors may be asked to work at the other operational base. Doctors may also request to move between bases for different clinical experiences, provided that this can be accommodated within the requirements of the service. The successful candidate will work on a rota comprised of 12 hour shifts: 09.00 21.00hrs, 7 days per week. There will be a requirement to work shifts, including evenings and weekends, with the occasional potential to overrun.
