CoW cover is divided into two blocks, Monday to Thursday and Friday to Sunday. Elective activities are cancelled when assigned to CoW duties. The CoW will also cover post-op patients if the operating surgeon is off site or on leave.

Paediatric Urology emergencies for children under the age of 2 are automatically sent to Birmingham Children's Hospital and emergencies for children over the age of 2 i.e. torsion etc are dealt with by the service. There is also cover of adult emergencies on the Walsall site.
