Our Essex Cardiothoracic Centre has an exciting opportunity to appoint a Consultant Thoracic Surgeon
You will be expected to work within a dynamic group of surgeons who deliver a comprehensive breadth of Thoracic surgical activity with numerous sub-specialist areas of interest to provide an individual Thoracic Surgical service of the highest quality including, ensuring that standards are maintained and developed through clinical audit, evidence based research and appraisal. To work flexibly with colleagues to achieve the hospitals agreed planned activity.
Applicants are required to hold full GMC registration.
In your role you will be expected to provide a Thoracic surgical service of the highest quality, participate in the out of hours on-call rota for thoracicsurgical emergencies, work flexibly with colleagues to achieve the hospital agreed planned activity for inpatient and outpatient services and ensure that standards are developed through clinical audit, evidence based research and appraisal.
As our Consultant, you are responsible for and expected to ensure effective coordination of all post-operative and ward based clinical care in the absence of colleagues and whilst on call provide input into the discussion and management of patients from external referral sources.
You will ensure that new techniques to the CTC or those new to your practice are ethically approved and introduced after compliance with the Trusts approval and regulatory policies which may require appropriate training, with approval by the clinical service unit lead and clinical governance process with arrangements for evaluation and clinical audit.
You will participate in annual appraisal and contribute to the supervision and training of other staff members where appropriate including Theatre staff and Surgical Care Practitioners.
