Job description
Overview

We are looking for a highly motivated individual that wishes to extend their dermatology experience within community services. The candidate must possess full GMC registration, MRCP or equivalent. The candidate must have experience in undertaking dermatological procedures without supervision. The role requires community-based dermatological consultations and follow ups for adults and children and performing surgical procedures. The candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with patients, the ability to work within a team and independently, and good time-keeping skills to ensure the clinics run smoothly and on time.

Main duties of the job
  • Follow patients, plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based care in line with NICE guidelines, British Association of Dermatologists protocols and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide specialist advice to patients, families and carers and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Carry out specialist dermatosurgical procedures, including punch biopsies, shave excisions, full excisions and using cautery as well as cryotherapy.
  • Contribute to the service and referring GPs through developing and delivering education and training.
  • Contribute to the development of services.
  • Work collaboratively and attend meetings with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the cohesive management of patients.
  • See surgical and follow-up patients.

The post holder will be responsible for undertaking the following appointments:

  • Mild/moderate Acne
  • Mild/moderate childhood atopic eczema
  • Angioedema
  • Tinea/Fungal/recurrent bacterial infections
  • Plaque Psoriasis confined to discreet areas
  • Melasma/Chloasma
  • 2WW/Skin Cancer

Qualifications
  • MRCP (Member of Royal College of Physicians) or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years as Consultant in NHS substantive post
  • OR
  • GMC Registered with licence to practice
  • Speciality Associate (SAS) working as Locum Consultant in NHS substantive post
  • Minimum of 2 years experience within Dermatology
