Job summary

Opencast is seeking software developers who care about craft and collaborative problem solving. You’ll work in a hybrid model across UK client sites, building high-quality services in Java or Scala with TDD and XP practices.

You’ll join teams that value simple design, strong testing, and continuous learning. As an Opencast consultant you’ll engage with stakeholders, deliver in agile environments, and travel to client locations across the UK.

Qualifications

• Build high-quality, user-centered services with Java or Scala.
• Design well-structured, maintainable systems using OO principles.
• Apply strong testing practices to ensure quality and reliability.
• Demonstrate government/public sector experience and GDS standards.
• Work effectively in agile teams and adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to deliver value iteratively.
• Lead user stories from refinement through to completion.
• Maintain a shared testing approach with the team and pairing/mobbing.
• Build relationships with clients and manage expectations.
• Adapt to new technologies and contribute across the stack.
