Job description

Consultant Social Worker - Assessment & Intervention Team

Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency, has a new permanent position available for a Consultant Social Worker within the Assessment & Intervention Team to work full-time based in Merton.

The salary for this permanent Consultant Social Worker role is up to £48,867 per annum.

  1. Work directly with children, young people, and families using and role-modeling Merton's Relationship-based practice model, along with solution-focused, Signs of Safety, and systemic social work tools and approaches.
  2. Build and maintain strong and effective relationships with children, young people, families, and carers to offer containment and create conditions for change. Support social workers, social work students, and practitioners to improve and repair relationships.
  3. Prepare, provide, and explain written reports and plans to children, families, carers, and professionals in various settings including home visits, family network meetings, court hearings, panels, and multi-agency meetings.
  4. Hold statutory social work case responsibility where required, including assessment, intervention, planning, and review of cases involving children, families, and carers under child in need, child protection, and children in care frameworks.
  5. Act as a Practice Educator and Practice Assessor, supervising, mentoring, and coaching social work students and ASYE social workers as needed.
  6. Work alongside children, young people, parents, and families facing social, emotional, health, or behavioral challenges to bring about sustainable change.
  7. Lead professional roles in working with families with complex problems.
  8. Deliver effective supervision, appraisal, and mentoring to colleagues.
  9. Maintain up-to-date records and data using electronic systems, providing reports for various audiences, and modeling efficient recording practices.
  10. Build strong relationships and networks with other professional groups and services in the locality, taking appropriate actions to resolve issues.
  11. Undertake additional tasks as allocated by the manager, consistent with the responsibilities of the role.
  12. Share knowledge, skills, and experience with colleagues, providing consultation, advice, and guidance.
  13. Perform any other duties within the scope and purpose of this job description, appropriate to the grade.
Minimum Requirements:
  • A recognised social work qualification or equivalent.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation.
  • Registered with Social Work England.
