The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a consultant radiologist with a chest imaging focus to support lung cancer screening, mainly based at Princess Royal Hospital. The role combines general reporting across sites with tumour-specific sub-specialty reporting on PACS and lung biopsy work.

Part-time and flexible working applications are welcome, with on-call out-of-hours core to the role and participation in a cancer MDT expected. GMC Specialist Register entry or CCT is required.

Qualifications

• MBBS/MBChB or equivalent medical qualification.
• FRCR or equivalent.
• Full GMC registration and licence to practise.
• Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT or Eligibility.

Responsabilités

• Share the general imaging workload and support tumour-specific and sub-specialty reporting on PACS.
• Report general radiographic examinations across the main sites and community hospitals in Shropshire.
• Maintain a general radiology practice alongside sub-specialty work.
• Work flexibly, including non-resident on-call and resident evening and weekend working.
• Attend site during on-call periods when needed.
• Cover general sessions including inpatient and outpatient cross-sectional imaging, plain films and body ultrasound.
• Maintain general skills to support the acute hospitals during evenings and weekends.
• Address GP and clinician queries and vet referrals.
• Carry out lung biopsy work.
• Take part in a cancer MDT, with a second interest possible.
• Contribute to department administration and teach clinical staff, including clinico-radiological meetings.
• Train junior radiology staff.

Registration & licences

• Full GMC registration and licence to practise
• Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (proposed CCT date within 6 months of interview) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration

Experience

• Excellent chest imaging experience and knowledge of cross‑sectional imaging
• Broad radiology experience across CT, ultrasound, plain films and MRI
• Chest biopsy experience
• Cancer imaging experience
• Active participation in MDT working

Skills & knowledge

• Providing expert clinical opinions across a broad range of radiological challenges
• Strong organisational skills and prioritising work

Other

• Taking full independent responsibility for patient care, including on‑call duties
• Commitment to continuing professional development, including evaluating own practice and audit

Nice to have

• Proven ability to plan and develop radiology services focused on patient‑centred care
• Covering the screening MDT
