Three substantive consultant radiologist posts are required to support increased activity in diagnostic oncology imaging in radiology at the Royal Marsden. This is due to continued expansion of radiology services, which reflects the increase in clinical activity in surgery and oncology in the Trust and also the requirement to support the Multidisciplinary Meetings which form a significant part of all consultant job plans. The post holders will require in-depth knowledge and experience in oncological CT and MR imaging, including body MRI. They must be familiar with the reporting requirements for clinical trials and be committed to driving innovation and research in radiology. There will also be a requirement to undertake general ultrasound and competency in performing ultrasound guided diagnostic biopsies is desirable.
In addition to clinical reporting there will be a requirement to participate in MDT activity which forms a significant proportion of the radiology department's work. The post holders will form part of the teams supporting specific MDTS: the Lower GI, Urology and Skin MDT activity (post 1); Sarcoma & Urology (post 2); and Lower GI, Lymphoma & Neuroendocrine tumours (NET) (post 3).
The post holders will join an enthusiastic, cohesive team which is motivated to deliver excellence in clinical care and participate in radiology research and innovation. A proven track record in research is desirable but not essential.
The Royal Marsden Hospital has branches in London and Surrey, and the posts will involve working at all sites.
The post holders will form part of the diagnostic on-call rota which is currently a 1:12.
Applicants should hold a CCT in Diagnostic Radiology or be within three months of gaining CCT. FRCR or equivalent and full registration with the GMC are essential. Any candidate who wishes to be considered for part-time working is welcome to apply.
