Consultant Radiographer Acute Oncology Interest Urology Radiotherapy

The closing date is 13 July 2025

The post holder will be an independent Consultant Therapy Radiographer for Urology and Palliative Radiotherapy, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Therapeutic Radiographer, accountable for delivering a high-quality service with a high degree of autonomy to patients in their care. The role includes expert practice, professional leadership, education, training, and service development. Responsibilities include managing new patient referrals, obtaining informed consent, treatment planning, prescribing radiotherapy, approving complex plans, and participating in MDT pathways and research activities, including acting as Principal Investigator.

Entry point will be 70% of top of band 8B under Annex 21 or your current salary if higher, with pay protection. Progression to band 8B occurs after training and successful completion of MSc modules and competencies.

Main duties of the job
  • Practice at an expert level providing care for patients undergoing radiotherapy for prostate cancer and palliative indications.
  • Prescribe within protocols and plan radiotherapy treatments, including review and approval.
  • Act as an expert resource for patients and develop multidisciplinary team approaches.
  • Train healthcare professionals in radiotherapy for prostate cancer and its management.
  • Provide specialist services, including assessment, follow-up, and prescribing radiotherapy and medications.
  • Offer professional, clinical, and managerial advice for prostate cancer management.
  • Conduct audit and research in prostate cancer and related fields.
  • Contribute to service development and strategic planning within the Trust.
  • Publish research and present at conferences.
