A leading NHS Trust is seeking a full-time Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry at Bushey Fields Hospital, Dudley. The role offers opportunities for leadership, teaching, and research within a supportive team environment, focusing on both in-patient and community care.
Job summary
Applications are invited for a full-time Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry based at Bushey Fields Hospital Dudley to join 2 existing Consultants. This post is within a well-established supportive service working both on in-patient wards and in the community, retaining the Continuity of Care model. The Consultant will lead a team of doctors, CPNs, Social Workers, and Occupational Therapists, covering the communities of Dudley, S in the Black Country. We are developing new models of working, including liaison to primary care within the MCP model, and have established an Old Age Home Treatment Team.
There are opportunities for leadership roles, including involvement in career development, medical management, and research. As a teaching Trust, there are opportunities to teach postgraduate psychiatric and GP trainees, as well as undergraduates from Birmingham and Grenada Universities, with new links to Aston Medical School. Strong links with local universities are maintained, and input to Birmingham and Wolverhampton Universities is welcomed.
This is a teaching Trust providing training for medical undergraduates from Birmingham University and postgraduate training as part of the School of Psychiatry, West Midlands Deanery.
