Overview

Priory Hospital Bristol is looking to recruit a Consultant Psychiatrist Male PICU/Medical Director to join the team. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week.

Priory Hospital Bristol is an elegant 18th century country residence set in beautiful parkland close to the centre of Bristol, less than 5 minutes away from the M32 leading directly onto the M4/M5 motorway.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the recruitment, induction, and probation of doctors in line with company policies, ensuring compliance with training requirements, specialist registration, and practising privileges for visiting consultants.
  • Oversee medical staff appraisals, revalidation processes, and performance management, taking decisive action on any behavioural or clinical concerns in collaboration with the Hospital Director and HR.
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership as part of the Senior Management Team (SMT), ensuring healthcare policy, clinical governance, and best practice standards are effectively implemented and maintained.
  • Ensure effective medical cover across all levels, including robust arrangements for out-of-hours and annual leave, to guarantee safe and consistent service delivery.
  • Lead on clinical investigations, complaints, and crisis management, working closely with the Group Medical Director and Clinical Director to resolve issues and drive improvements.
  • Contribute to continuous learning by overseeing complaints, incidents, benchmarking, and service user feedback, ensuring lessons are embedded across the hospital.
  • Maintain your own clinical caseload, complete mandatory training, and represent the hospital’s clinical expertise and innovation with commissioners, partners, and stakeholders.
