Consultant Psychiatrist - Male Rehabilitation (Part Time)

We are seeking an experienced part-time (any 4 days per week) Consultant Psychiatrist to work at Cygnet Hospital Maidstone, providing senior medical cover for our 16-bed high support inpatient rehabilitation (Level 2) service for men.

The post holder will serve as the Responsible Clinician, overseeing the care of all ward inpatients and auditing the medical services to ensure quality in accordance with GMC standards and other professional guidelines.

Your expertise will drive life-changing treatments, supported by a Specialty Doctor and a multidisciplinary team including nurses, psychologists, and occupational therapists.

There is also an opportunity to progress to Medical Director level through our management schemes.

Main duties of the job

Cygnet Hospital Maidstone is purpose-built to meet national standards for mental health care within a therapeutic environment. The hospital provides essential services for local patients from Kent, divided into four specialized wards. We focus on collaborative, multidisciplinary care with an emphasis on discharge planning from admission.

The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician, responsible for patient treatment plans and liaising with the multidisciplinary team, while demonstrating a positive attitude towards patients, families, visitors, and staff.

All patients are NHS patients. This role is suitable for those wishing to continue NHS work while exploring opportunities in the private sector.

We seek an experienced part-time Consultant Psychiatrist to work at Cygnet Hospital Maidstone on Kingswood Ward, our 16-bed inpatient rehabilitation service for men.

The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician, overseeing inpatient care, auditing services, and ensuring quality standards are met. Kingswood Ward is situated in the Kent Medical Campus, providing a therapeutic environment focused on recovery and community reintegration.

Your role will be supported by a Specialty Doctor and a multidisciplinary team. There is an opportunity for career progression to Medical Director through our management schemes. We offer professional development, healthcare benefits, and rewards for making a daily difference.

Main duties include:

  • Leading high-quality patient care
