There is an opportunity for a 6PA Consultant post in the Lewisham Community Forensic service.

This post will suit someone with good communication and liaison skills and excellent psychiatric knowledge. Candidates with a special interest will be supported to develop this as part of their role.

The job plan is 6 PAs including 1.5 sessions for Supporting Professional Activities. There may be the opportunity to take on additional sessions within the Forensic Directorate.

The Lewisham Community Forensic Team is one of four borough-based community forensic teams in SLaM. It is made up of one full-time and three part time Consultant Psychiatrists (including this post), a full-time Team Leader, a Senior Psychologist, 3 Social Workers, 6 Community Psychiatric Nurses, an Out of Area placement coordinator and a Senior Administrator.

There is an active teaching programme conducted for the Forensic Directorate at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience on Friday mornings and the successful applicant would be encouraged to participate. In addition, there are opportunities to teach psychiatrists-in-training and medical students as well other multi-disciplinary staff. Candidates with an understanding of health inequality issues are particularly encouraged to apply.
