Job overview

At CNTW we strive to provide the BEST CARE, delivered by the BEST PEOPLE, to achieve the BEST OUTCOME. As a Consultant, you will lead a team and contribute to service development to achieve better outcomes.

This is a substantive, full-time post (also considered for part-time or fixed-term applicants). It is a new substantive post with the Northumberland & North Tyneside Universal Crisis Team, developed to improve urgent care services (Inpatient and Crisis), achieve 7-day service coverage, and develop an Early discharge model from inpatient care to home-based treatment. The post holder will focus part of their weekly timetable on this crisis service function and will work closely with the Acute Adult Inpatient teams at St Georges Park to establish this function. The post holder will join an already established adults crisis service providing crisis assessment and home treatment.

Main duties

The consultant will collaborate with inpatient ward teams and crisis team clinicians to support home-based treatment and early discharge, and to enable transition to the community. You will develop proactive links with community services to create robust follow-up pathways. You will assess and provide medical input for patients with mental health crises admitted for home treatment and provide psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and formulation for adult patients presenting to the Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment (CRHT) team.

You will have your own office space and will be supported by a medical assistant and/or medical secretary. Applicants from anywhere in the UK are welcome to apply to explore remote and digital working opportunities.
