Job description
Overview

Consultant CAMHS Psychiatrist at Parkview Clinic, Tier 4 Inpatient CAMHS Service. This is a full-time 10 PA post in inpatient Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. The successful applicant will join our CAMHS In-patient service at Parkview Clinic in Moseley, Birmingham, providing senior specialist psychiatric input and leadership within an established multidisciplinary team.

Main duties
  • Hold overall clinical/medical responsibility and review patients at a frequency appropriate to their clinical need and risk.
  • Provide direct psychiatric services through comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, care planning, treatment formulation, and guidance on evidence-based treatment and effectiveness.
  • Provide psychiatric leadership to multidisciplinary teams and clinical leadership in collaboration with team leaders.
  • Act as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act.
  • Be approved under Section 12(2) and have Approved Clinician status to undertake assessments and use the Mental Health Act as appropriate.
  • Contribute to quality improvement and clinical governance activities and support service planning for the Mental Health Service.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to respond to changing service requirements and participate in service and business planning.

  • Essential: MBBS or equivalent; CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or eligible within 6 months; GMC full registration or eligible; wide experience in CAMHS including Tier 4; MRC Psych or equivalent; Section 12(2) approval (or eligible); eligible to work in the UK; strong clinical governance and audit experience; ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and to provide leadership; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; capacity to manage duties under MHA; ability to prioritise and work independently; IT proficiency; commitment to professional development; flexibility to respond to service changes; ability to train others and contribute to service development.
  • Desirable: Higher degree or research methodology qualifications; leadership training; experience in training doctors; experience in clinical governance investigations; ability to supervise junior medical staff; published research; interest in ongoing research projects.
