Learning Disability Service
We seek to appoint an experienced clinician with enthusiasm for Learning Disability Psychiatry to join our team of Psychiatrists in NHS Highland. The Learning Disability service provides assessment and treatment for adults with learning disabilities throughout Highland. There are Community Learning Disability Nurse Teams based in Inverness, Nairn, Fort William, Skye, Easter Ross, Golspie, and Caithness, with strong links to specialist LD services in Inverness. These include dietetics, epilepsy specialist nurse, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, psychiatry, psychology, and speech & language therapy. There is joint working with Social Work services and a learning disability nurse based in the SW Joint transitions team.
Inpatient services are provided at New Craigs Hospital in Willows Assessment and Treatment Unit, a 6-bedded specialist service for people with learning disabilities and mental disorders.
This is a part-time post (0.8 WTE). Applicants must be on the GMC specialist register in Learning Disability Psychiatry or within 6 months of award of CCT by the interview date, as consideration can be given to appoint on a proleptic basis. Applications for flexible working will be considered.
