An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Psychiatrist to work in a general adult inpatient ward.
The job will involve working with a highly specialized team including a nurse consultant, specialist nursing and enhanced pharmacy staff along with additional allied health professionals to assist in ensuring the environment is appropriate for complex needs, especially for patients with autism and other specialist needs.
Working 10PAs a week over 4 or 5 days alongside the multidisciplinary team, including SAS doctors, junior doctors, and wider clinical teams you will be the clinical expert from a medical perspective to ensure best practice care is delivered and support the team.

Main duties of the jobYou will be Responsible Clinician on a unit with 18 inpatient beds on a new inpatient unit based at St Nicholas Hospital working with the MDT to provide the best evidence based effective high-quality care for each patient. We have a new model, and staffing will include an Multi Professional AC,( currently in training) who will support the ward. The candidate must be Section 12 approved and AC status is essential.
The role involves being a clinical supervisor for a full-time specialty doctor and junior doctors on the ward including a core trainee and foundation doctor. The post holder will be responsible for providing mental health tribunal reports and attendance at MHA Tribunal hearings to give evidence as required.
You will be an essential member of the ward leadership team, leading on clinical governance and ongoing service development work.
The post holder will work closely with other consultants in the service and provide cross cover for annual and study leave. You will be required to attend consultant meetings monthly with the associate medical director for the service to keep up to date with trust developments
You will have your own office space and will be supported by a medical assistant and/or medical secretary. We are looking for applicants based anywhere in the UK to explore exciting new opportunities in remote and digital working.
