A health and social care organization is seeking a qualified psychiatrist to lead a multidisciplinary team for community-based psychiatric treatment for the elderly. The role involves assessments, treatment plans, and collaboration with various teams to ensure high-quality care in the Fenland area. Candidates must be on the GMC Specialist Register and possess an MRCPsych or equivalent. Strong teamwork and teaching abilities are essential.
Job summary: The successful candidate will work alongside a community-based colleagues to provide assessment and psychiatric treatment for Older Adults within the Fenland community across a largely rural area.
The population of over 65's in the Fenland area is approximately 25,000 out of 113,064. In its entirety, the OPMH team had 912 referrals in the past 12 months. Not all referrals require the consultant to see them, many are managed by other staff in the community team. On average the Fenland OPMH service receives 76 referrals per month, with approx. 9 for psychiatry outpatient and 36 for memory assessment.
Clinical:
To lead the multidisciplinary team in providing excellent psychiatric care.
To provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment plans.
To lead weekly MDT meetings and ensure prompt reviews of acutely unwell patients.
To work closely with the CRHTT OP, community teams and liaison services as patients move between these teams.
