Overview

Applications are invited to provide Consultant leadership within our well-established East Assertive Outreach service in Birmingham. Assertive Outreach teams provide intensive support to people who are suffering from a mental health problem and are at their most vulnerable. The service supports people who have historically avoided contact with mental health services by using a flexible and creative approach to engagement. Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership to the East Assertive Outreach Team in delivering responsive, effective and inclusive mental health community services.
  • Apply expertise in assessments for those suffering severe and enduring mental health difficulties to enable maximum empowerment of the service user and carer in developing informed choice of treatment interventions.
  • Develop robust risk assessment and management plans in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team, service users, carers and other involved agencies.
Qualifications
  • Full registration with the GMC, MRCPsych or equivalent.
  • Section 12(2) approval and approved clinician status.
  • CCT accreditation in General Adult Psychiatry or within 6 months of obtaining CCT.
  • Experience in Acute Psychiatry is essential.

Safeguarding, DBS and recruitment
  • The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults; pre-employment checks will be undertaken. As part of the selection process you may be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check; cases of criminal history are dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Applicants may be required to cover the cost of a DBS certificate (deducted from salary over 3 months) and to sign up to the DBS Update Service; the Trust will reimburse this and you must maintain your subscription.
  • All successful applicants will complete the Trust's induction programme. Fundamental (Statutory and Mandatory) training will be delivered online (approx. 9–14 hours depending on post) by the end of the second week.
  • Overseas applicants should refer to GOV.UK guidance for criminal records checks; sponsorship eligibility is assessed, and salary thresholds may affect sponsorship.
  • Relocation expenses may be reimbursed up to £8,000 subject to eligibility.
