Job summary
This is a replacement post due to the retirement of the previous Consultant Psychiatrist.
The post is based within the Adult Learning Disability Community Team at North Moor House, Northallerton, covering Hambleton & Richmondshire Districts and Botton Village, a large Camphill Village Trust community in The North York Moors. This service is commissioned by the Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership.
Referrals are received locally; each team operates a duty system, triages referrals, and provides advice and support. We collaborate with partners including Primary Care, Local Authority, and voluntary sectors.
Main duties of the job
The postholder's cases will include a keyworker, usually a community nurse. The team is well-regarded for collaborative work. Services are provided in Hambleton, Richmondshire, and Botton Village, serving approximately 150,000 people. The Consultant holds clinics and home visits as needed. There are strong relationships with mental health, CYPS, Older Person services, and social services, with regular meetings and liaison with hospitals and GPs.
This is a community-based role. Inpatient treatment is available under Greenlight arrangements in adult mental health wards, with access to Learning Disability Assessment and Treatment beds at Bankfields Court, Middlesbrough, managed by inpatient Consultants.
