Consultant Psychiatrist - General Adults - Cornwall/Devon - Perm or Locum

Triple West Medical have been appointed by an NHS Trust to help recruit a Consultant Psychiatrist – General Adults on a substantive or on a 12 Month minimum Locum FTC.

We have various roles in locations including Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Staffordshire, East of England, Midlands and London/South East.

The Trust offers a wide range of physical and mental health services. The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic and friendly department of Psychiatrists whose services include inpatient, community services, specialist services, and emergency services. They have excellent links with training and education with the local university and pride themselves on patient care and quality.

Brief Duties:

1. Provision of comprehensive psychiatric care through evaluation, diagnosis and use of appropriate treatment plans/strategies.
2. Making decisions regarding referrals to the team and ensuring treatment of patients in accordance with acceptable and established standards, protocols and guidelines.
3. Ensuring the involvement of families and carers, wherever possible, with the patients' consent in treatment planning and care.
4. Providing psychiatrist leadership to the multi-disciplinary team, including taking a lead in clinical governance in the team and contributing to directorate-wide issues.
5. Liaising with other agencies as may be appropriate, especially regarding continuity of patient care.
6. Availability to act as Section 12(2) approved doctor for the purpose of Mental Health Act Assessments and preparing for and attending mental health act review tribunals, if appropriate in the community.
7. Ensuring that other clinicians, trainees, and students in the team receive appropriate clinical supervision, training, and teaching as necessary on a regular basis.
8. Identifying and advocating for needed resources including staff as necessary.
9. Participating in administrative/management duties within the teams, directorate, and the Trust as a whole.
10. Participating in clinical governance, clinical audit, various medical advisory committees, and other committees as may be necessary.
11. Participating in the consultant on-call rota, covering out of hours responsibilities, including weekends and Bank Holidays.
