Contract Type: Permanent / Full-Time
We are seeking a committed and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult Psychiatry to join our multidisciplinary mental health team at Belfast Hospital, part of the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust. You will be responsible for providing high-quality psychiatric care to adults with complex mental health needs in both inpatient and community settings.
Lead on the psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of adult patients with a range of mental health disorders.
Provide clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring collaborative and holistic care.
Work closely with community mental health teams (CMHTs), crisis response teams, social services, and primary care providers.
Engage in mental health strategy and service development in line with Trust and regional goals.
Participate in the on-call rota as required.
Provide supervision, teaching, and support to junior medical staff and trainees (including those on the NI Deanery training scheme).
Contribute to audit, clinical governance, service evaluation, and quality improvement initiatives.
Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise.
Entry on the Specialist Register for General Adult Psychiatry (or within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview).
Approved clinician status and Section 12 approval (or eligibility to obtain).
Broad-based experience in adult psychiatry across inpatient and community settings.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Eligibility to work in the UK.
Experience in service development or leadership roles.
Academic or research interest in psychiatry.
Additional subspecialty interest (e.g., early intervention, rehabilitation, liaison).
