Full-time | On-site | Multiple UK Locations

Clacton-on-Sea, Widnes, Hatfield, Leeds, Charlwood, Bury St Edmunds, Warrington, Newark, Exeter

We are currently hiring Consultant Psychiatrists across several well-established mental health services throughout the UK. Opportunities span adult acute and rehabilitation services, as well as specialist CAMHS (Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services) focused on eating disorders. All roles are on-site in regulated inpatient facilities and come with strong multi-disciplinary team support, clinical autonomy, and a focus on long-term recovery outcomes.

Specialties we're hiring for:

  • General Adult Psychiatry - working in acute, forensic, or rehabilitation units supporting adults with complex mental health conditions.
  • Adult Consultant Psychiatry (Women’s Services) - managing inpatient services including female PICU, locked rehabilitation, and trauma-informed care pathways.
  • Child & Adolescent Psychiatry - supporting young people aged 8-18 in eating disorder services with a structured MDT approach.
  • Adult Psychiatry (non-Consultant track) - development post ideal for those pursuing CESR or near CCT.

Responsibilities across all roles:

  • Provide Responsible Clinician duties for your patient group, including assessments, reviews, discharge planning, and Mental Health Act compliance.
  • Lead the development and delivery of individualised treatment plans, ensuring care is aligned with NICE guidance and clinical best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams including nursing, psychology, OT, education, and social work.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, service development, and supervision of junior doctors or non-medical clinicians.
  • Participate in the regional on-call rota (low frequency and well supported).

Requirements:

  • Full GMC registration with licence to practise in the UK.
  • Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status (or eligibility).
  • Extensive experience working in inpatient mental health settings.
  • Strong clinical leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.

In addition, depending on specialty:

  • General Adult / Forensic Psychiatry: CCT or within 6 months of achieving it.
  • Child & Adolescent Psychiatry: CCT in CAMHS; prior experience in eating disorder treatment is a plus.
  • Adult Psychiatry (non-Consultant): Suitable for candidates working towards CESR with at least 3 years of experience in psychiatry.

Offer:

  • Long-term, stable roles with opportunities to shape clinical services.
  • Strong professional development and CPD support.
  • Full benefits package including pension, annual leave, and wellbeing resources.
  • Sign-on and relocation support available for some posts.
  • A supportive, modern environment focused on recovery, safety, and professional growth.

Please note: these are on-site positions across various UK locations. During the application process, you will be asked to indicate your preferred region and clinical specialty.
