Location: West Midlands

Start Date: ASAP | Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist in the West Midlands. This is an excellent opportunity to deliver high-quality psychiatric care in a secure setting, working closely with a well-established multidisciplinary team to support individuals with complex mental health needs.

About the Role

The role involves leading on the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of service users within a forensic mental health environment. You will provide clinical leadership within a collaborative team that includes an Associate Specialist Doctor, Clinical Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, and experienced nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments in a secure environment
• Develop and oversee individualised care plans in partnership with the MDT
• Prescribe and monitor appropriate treatment, including medication management
• Monitor service users’ progress and adjust interventions as required
• Provide clinical leadership and specialist input across the service
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation including the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice
• Contribute to ongoing service development and quality improvement initiatives
• Maintain full GMC registration with a licence to practise
• Hold CCT in Psychiatry (with Forensic Psychiatry CCT or substantial forensic experience preferred)
• Possess Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status
• Have experience working within secure or similar mental health settings
• Exhibit strong clinical, diagnostic, and leadership skills
• Demonstrate excellent communication and teamworking abilities
• Have an in-depth understanding of relevant mental health legislation and safeguarding procedures
