Job summary

Priory Hospital Preston is seeking a consultant psychiatrist to lead clinical care within the Medical and Psychiatry department. The role covers responsibility for patient care, ward rounds, risk assessments, and treatment planning in a mental health setting serving adults with acute needs and eating disorders.

Candidates must hold MRCPsych (or equivalent), be on the GMC Specialist Register, and have Section 12(2) approval with Approved Clinician status.

• Provide clinical leadership and take overall responsibility for patient care.

• Act as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).
• Oversee referrals, admissions, and contribute to pre-admission assessments.
• Provide specialist psychiatric expertise to multidisciplinary assessment, formulation, and treatment planning.

Priory Hospital Preston, Bartle, near Preston is a mental health hospital offering services for adult males and females with acute mental health needs and eating disorders across four wards. It is accessible by public transport, with local bus routes and Preston railway station nearby. The M55 motorway is also easily accessible.

What you'll be doing

In this role, you will play a key part in patient recovery, supporting the assessment and delivery of tailored treatment plans while ensuring dignity, respect, and high standards of care.

What you'll bring to the role
