Job summary

Priory Hospital Preston is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Medical and Psychiatry department on a part-time basis. You will work at Priory Hospital Preston, Bartle, near Preston, providing high-quality care and leading clinical activities within the MDT.

The post requires MRCPsych, a CCT (or equivalent), GMC Specialist Register, Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status. You will supervise clinical care and contribute to patient planning and governance.

• CCT or equivalent and inclusion on the Specialist Register.
• Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status essential.

Responsibilities

• Take clinical responsibility for patients, including ward rounds and risk reviews.
• Act as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under MHA (1983).
• Supervise referrals and preadmission assessments with the team.
• Offer psychiatric perspective to the MDT on assessment, formulation and treatment.

Priory Hospital Preston is looking to recruit a consultant psychiatrist to join the team.

Priory Hospital Preston, Bartle, near Preston is amental health hospital offering services for adult males and females with acute mental health needs and eating disorders across four wards. It is accessible by public transport, with local bus routes and Preston railway station nearby. The M55 motorway is also easily accessible.

What you'll be doing

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients

• Taking clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, strategic reviews and the development of a therapeutic milieu.
• Fulfilling the role of Responsible Clinician to patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).
• Supervising the process of referral and admission including contributing to preadmission assessments of young people with other team members.
• Offering a psychiatric perspective to the multidisciplinary team in relation to the assessment, formulation and treatment of adults.

Applicants must hold MRCPsych (or an equivalent qualification), a CCT (or equivalent) and be included on the GMC Specialist Register, along with Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status. They must demonstrate clinical knowledge, skills, and experience relevant to the speciality, the ability to work within and lead a team, and a commitment to shared leadership, collaborative working, and service improvement. Candidates should also have evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.

In addition, highly developed communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as the role relies on building trust and confidence with patients to ensure that treatments and interventions are effective and successful.
