Job overview
South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLAM) are looking for two dynamic, forward thinking, enthusiastic, full time, substantive Consultant Psychiatrists to lead a Community Mental health team in the London Borough of Lewisham.
If you are looking for an exciting frontline role, within an established community mental health team, with opportunities to work closely with Primary care partners and lead on further service development and incorporating quality improvement methodology to evaluate changes, then this is the ideal post for you.
You will be providing input for the Primary Care Mental Health Team and the Community Mental Health Team in Lewisham’s Neighbourhood 1 (N1).
You will be supported by a range of MDT staff including another 10 PA full time substantive consultant (being recruited), a GP trainee and a Higher Trainee for who you will be named clinical supervisor.

Main duties of the job
The main duties of the consultant are to provide psychiatry consultant leadership and to act as Approved Clinician to the two Neighbourhood Teams – the Primary Care Mental Health Team and the Community Mental Health Team, and to support the Clinical Service Lead.
Close liaison with primary care will be a key part of the role. You will need to work directly with GPs and will need to attend regular meetings with local practices to improve the primary / secondary care interface and enhance the ability of medical colleagues working in primary care (Lead consultant in neighbourhood to take on this role)
