Job overview

This role offers an opportunity to demonstrate clinical expertise across various areas. It is a well-supported position within a cohesive team comprising nurses, OTs, psychologists, assistant psychologists, and mental health wellbeing practitioners. The role includes opportunities for teaching, management, and quality improvement.

Staff are currently being trained in Open Dialogue, a new approach that has brought a refreshing perspective to the team. This method is expected to enhance wellbeing for both staff and patients.

Main duties

  • Provide medical input to patients under the Community Mental Health Team, attend CPAs for enhanced patients, and offer urgent assessments and advice as needed.
  • Lead screening of new referrals to the team on a rotational basis among consultants.
  • Participate in service evaluation and future planning.
  • Empower the team to resolve local issues using quality improvement tools without needing prior permission.
  • Manage, appraise, and supervise junior medical staff in accordance with policies and frameworks.
  • Contribute to service and business planning for the locality and the wider mental health service.
  • Join the Consultant on-call rota (currently 1:30, non-residential), with remuneration including a 3% category A supplement and additional PA sessions.
