Job description

Consultant Psychiatrist - CAMHS (Inpatient)

Are you ready to commit to providing a comprehensive and outstanding service for young people between the ages of 12 to 18? If so, this could be the perfect role for you!

One of our outstanding CQC-recognised Trusts, based in the beautiful countryside, has a fantastic full-time (10 PA) CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist position available.

The Trust is located in a beautiful area with sandy beaches, excellent transport links, and vibrant towns offering something for all ages.

The appointee will work closely with CAMHS colleagues to support the emotional health and wellbeing of young people in and around the area. The position is based at the 10-bedded inpatient CAMHS hospital.

The Trust currently provides the following services:

  1. 6 Community teams
  2. A 10-bed adolescent inpatient unit
  3. A dedicated CAMHS psychiatric liaison service to three acute hospitals in Dorset
  4. A community forensic service for children and adolescents
  5. A specialist community service for young people with eating disorders
  6. A specialist community service for children and young people with intellectual disabilities
  7. An out-of-hours CAMHS crisis service
  8. A Discovery College for young people and carers
  9. Peer specialists employed within community and inpatient teams
  10. An NHSE-commissioned state-of-the-art 8-bed PICU
  11. Participation in the national trailblazer delivering Mental Health Support Teams in schools across three pilot sites

The successful candidate must ensure they have the relevant professional registration, including:

  • Section 12 approval
  • Approved Clinician status
  • Responsible Clinician status

To be eligible for this post, the appointee must have:

  • Full GMC registration
  • Possession or within 6 months of obtaining a CCT in Psychiatry or on the Specialist Register in Psychiatry
  • A minimum of two years' experience in CAMHS or General Adult Psychiatry at senior/specialist registrar level
  • Three years of core training in Psychiatry or equivalent
  • At least two years of NHS work experience
