Job summary

Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal is seeking a GMC-registered Consultant Psychiatrist to join our CAMHS ward on a full-time basis. The role involves inpatient care, multidisciplinary teamwork, and leadership within a mental health setting for young people and adults.

You will provide high quality clinical care, participate in ward rounds and risk reviews, and contribute to a recovery-focused treatment programme within Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal, Stockport.

Qualifications

• Must hold MRCPsych (or equivalent), a CCT (or equivalent) and be included on the GMC Specialist Register, with Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status.
• Experience working in inpatient settings with individuals facing significant mental health challenges.
• Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Taking clinical responsibility for patients, including ward rounds, risk reviews, and the development of a therapeutic milieu.
• Fulfilling the role of Responsible Clinician to patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).
• Supervising referral and admission processes, including preadmission assessments of young people with the team.
• Providing psychiatric perspective to the multidisciplinary team on assessment, formulation and treatment for adults.

Priory Hospital Cheadle has an opportunity for a GMC registered Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team on our CAMHS ward.

• Department: Medical and Psychiatry
• Location: Cheadle Royal
• Compensation: £180,000 / year

What you’ll be doing

Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal, Stockport is an inpatient mental health service for young people and adults. It is accessible by public transport, with local bus routes along Wilmslow Road and Cheadle Hulme and East Didsbury railway stations approximately 1–2 miles from the service.

You will provide high quality clinical care for patients referred to the hospital and work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure that clients receive a holistic and person-centric care and treatment programme based on the recovery model.

What you’ll bring to the role

They must demonstrate clinical knowledge, skills, and experience relevant to the speciality, the ability to work within and lead a team, and a commitment to shared leadership, collaborative working, and service improvement. Candidates should also have evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.
