Maudsley Health is a collaboration between South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) and MACANI, established in 2015 to develop high-quality mental health services in the Middle East. The service has grown from child and adolescent mental health services in Abu Dhabi (2015) to adult mental health services (2017), and successfully bid to support the development of Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital in Dubai (2018). The aim is to deliver high-quality mental health services, including advice, training, and consultation, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues, families, and patients, using evidence-based approaches and offering professional training and development. The post involves contributing to service development, based in Dubai with potential regional travel.
This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of a senior team supporting the development of a Centre of Excellence in collaboration with Emirates Health Services. The post involves leading evidence-based practice implementation, service accreditation, and delivering specialist assessments and treatments aligned with UK and UAE guidelines. The consultant will manage complex cases and contribute to clinical, research, and training services, maintaining the reputation of Maudsley Health and associated organizations.
Consultants receive 22 days annual leave plus public holidays, participate in clinical audits and governance, and have access to study leave days. The role includes participation in appraisals, adherence to clinical policies, and maintaining GMC registration or equivalent. Employment is through MACANI, a UAE entity, and requires compliance with local health, visa, and licensing requirements.
The post holder will provide clinical expertise, lead and develop the Clinical Academic Group, monitor KPIs, participate in training and research, and support service development in Dubai and the wider region. Responsibilities include maintaining clinical records, fostering partnerships, developing policies, promoting diversity, and engaging in quality improvement activities. The role also involves research, audits, and supporting junior staff, with an emphasis on integrity, professionalism, and reputation enhancement.
This role is subject to DBS checks under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1975, and a disclosure submission will be required.
