Job summary

Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal is recruiting a Consultant Psychiatrist for the Adult Acute Ward, an inpatient mental health service for young people and adults. The role centers on clinical responsibility for adult inpatients, leading multidisciplinary ward rounds and risk reviews, and acting as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act.

The post is full-time (37.5 hours) and includes involvement in admission assessments for young people.

Qualifications

• MRCPsych or equivalent qualification.
• CCT or equivalent.
• Registration on GMC Specialist Register.
• Section 12(2) approval.
• Approved Clinician status.
• Clinical experience relevant to the specialty.
• Working within and leading a team.

Responsibilities

• Take clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, strategic reviews and developing a therapeutic milieu.
• Act as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act 1983.
• Supervise the referral and admission process, including contributing to pre-admission assessments of young people with team members.
• Offer a psychiatric perspective to the multidisciplinary team on the assessment, formulation and treatment of adults.
