Job summary

Priory Hospital Southampton is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist for the Sandpiper Ward, an 18-bed acute inpatient ward. The role centres on comprehensive assessments, leading ward rounds, and supervising the Specialty Doctor, with a focus on high-quality patient care.

You will participate in clinical governance, audits, and service improvement, and collaborate with NHS partners and commissioners. Some flexibility for relocation is available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Current GMC registration is required.
• Specialist registration in a psychiatric specialty is required.
• Approved Clinician status, or eligibility to apply for it, is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultant psychiatric care for up to 18 inpatients and lead ward rounds.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centred treatment.
• Chair multidisciplinary team meetings and support safe, recovery-focused decisions.
