A charitable organization in York seeks a lead consultant psychiatrist to oversee neuropsychiatry services. Candidates must hold an MB BS or equivalent, be fully registered with the GMC, and possess approved clinician status.

MAIN PURPOSE:
To lead and develop specialist psychiatry provision within Brainkinds Hospitals. To operate within a recovery model where people learn new strategies and coping mechanisms with the lifelong effects of acquired brain injury and other associated conditions. The service, like other BIRT (Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust) services, operates holistically as opposed to a purely medical /clinical model. This medical post sits within a community rehabilitation model using a bio-psycho-social approach.
The Consultant doctor in psychiatry will take the lead role during the stage of stabilisation where poly medications, unstable presentations, fragmented social networks of support need to be, rationalised to be more manageable and helpful for the person. They will take the lead/strategic role within the multi/interdisciplinary team providing psychiatry input within the Brainkind neurobehavioral model to people with acquired brain injury.
To act as a positive professional role model, and to pro-actively support the clinical leadership team to achieve Brainkind Objectives.
