Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our integrated mental health team at HMP Wealstun. HMP Wealstun is a category C prison located in Thorpe Arche, housing around 800 patients aged 21+. In this role, you will join an established and experienced mental health team that runs a nurse-led service focused on a medical model diagnosis for complex health needs. The psychiatrist's caseload will be 4-5 patients per day.

Hours

2.5 days per week, worked across Tuesday, Wednesday, and one additional half day. The half day can be used to complete admin work on site.

Salary

You will receive an annual salary up to £189,900 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

  • You will be part of a team of over 15 experienced and supportive Consultant psychiatrists.
  • You will be able to attend monthly Consultant meetings and 1:1 clinical supervision.
  • Bespoke induction, including our Introducing Health in Justice training course.

Requirements

Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK. Offers of employment are subject to additional vetting and security checks.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide excellent clinical care, assessment, and treatment to patients on the caseload onsite.
  • Participate in the strategic direction of the mental health service, lead senior mental health clinicians on service development, and provide clinical supervision.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team to review referrals, determine treatment plans, conduct risk assessments, and engage in complex case reviews.
