Job summary

Priory Hospital Preston is seeking a consultant psychiatrist to join our team. The post involves clinical leadership, multidisciplinary team involvement, and delivering patient-focused care for adults with acute mental health needs and eating disorders at our Bartle-based site.

You will carry responsibility as a Responsible Clinician under the Mental Health Act, participate in ward rounds and risk reviews, and contribute to treatment planning with a collaborative approach.

Qualifications

• Must hold MRCPsych (or equivalent) and a CCT, and be on the GMC Specialist Register.
• Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status are required.
• Ongoing CPD and strong communication/interpersonal skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Take clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds and risk reviews.
• Contribute to assessment, formulation, and treatment planning within a multidisciplinary team.
• Fulfilling the role of Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).
• Supervise referrals and admissions, including preadmission assessments for youth.
• Provide psychiatric perspectives to the team for adult treatment and recovery.

Priory Hospital Preston is looking to recruit a consultant psychiatrist to join the team.

Priory Hospital Preston, Bartle, near Preston is amental health hospital offering services for adult males and females with acute mental health needs and eating disorders across four wards. It is accessible by public transport, with local bus routes and Preston railway station nearby. The M55 motorway is also easily accessible.

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patientsTaking clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, strategic reviews and the development of a therapeutic milieu.

Fulfilling the role of Responsible Clinician to patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).

Supervising the process of referral and admission including contributing to preadmission assessments of young people with other team members.

Offering a psychiatric perspective to the multidisciplinary team in relation to the assessment, formulation and treatment of adults.
