We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our integrated Mental Health team at HMP Lewes. HMP Lewes is a busy category B remand prison based in East Sussex. This role is based within the inpatient unit on site, where you will be completing ward rounds, hospital referrals, mental health meds prescribing, as well as working alongside another Psychiatrist and the wider multidisciplinary team to discuss patients transition into general population. You will be working with male patients, aged 21+ who have a range of complex mental health needs and acute trauma.

Hours

2 sessions/ 8 hours to be work on either a Monday or Friday 2 hours of CPD can be done on same working day or from home

Salary

This position is part time working 10 hours per week, you’ll receive an annual salary up to £180,000 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

How will we support you?
  • You will be part of a team of 15 plus experienced and supportive Consultant psychiatrists
  • You will be able to attend monthly Consultant's meeting and 1:1 clinical supervision.

Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks

What you'll be doing

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Provide excellent clinical care, assessment and treatment to patients on the case load onsite
  • Actively participate in the strategic direction of the mental health service, lead the senior mental health clinicians on service developments and provide clinical supervision
  • Work within the multi-disciplinary team to review referrals, determine appropriate treatment plans, conduct risk assessments, and engage in multi professional complex case reviews.

Qualifications required
  • Registered professional with current registration (GMC) Specialist Registration in either General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry
  • Approved under section 12 (2) of the MHS 1983 Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
  • Up to date knowledge in the adult psychiatry and PD Awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy and legislation
