Job summary

Elysium Healthcare invites applications for a Temporary Consultant Psychiatrist post at Pinhoe View, a 36-bed acute inpatient site. You will act as Responsible Clinician, lead decision-making and craft care plans within a multidisciplinary team.

Registration via Section 12(2) and AC status are required. The role involves on-call duties and contributing to governance and service development alongside senior managers.

Qualifications

• MRCPsych or equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
• AC status may be considered if CCT/CESR not held.
• Extensive senior acute inpatient experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Formulate care plans and guide evidence-based treatment.
• Implement the Mental Health Act and collaborate with external agencies.

• Participate in on-call rota providing telephone advice.
• Cover colleagues during absences.

Job description

Temporary Consultant Psychiatrist post at Pinhoe View, the Elysium Healthcare site with 36 acute inpatient beds across a male and a female ward. The core of the work is clinical decision-making, care planning and acting as Responsible Clinician for Clyst Ward under the Mental Health Act. You would sit within a team with another full-time consultant and two associate specialists, and help steer service development alongside senior managers. Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status in England are required.

What the job involves

• Help steer service development with the ward manager and senior management, in line with hospital and Elysium strategy


• Contribute to clinical governance, audits and service improvement


• Keep accurate clinical records and meet NHSE contractual obligations


• Take part in the second tier on-call rota providing telephone advice


• Cover colleagues during absences

Qualifications

• MRCPsych or equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists


• Without CCT/CESR, AC status and extensive senior acute inpatient experience may be considered

Registration & licences

• Section 12(2) approval to work in England


• Approved Clinician (AC) status

Experience

• Extensive experience in acute inpatient settings


• Experience of acute inpatient or community settings, ideally inpatient


• Experience of risk assessment and risk management

Skills & knowledge

• Ability to take full and independent responsibility for patients' clinical care
